Perhaps you've had an experience much like this one: You have friends over, and you're attempting to show them something, or perhaps to play a game of cards in the middle of the room. The pretty ambient light shed by the lamps that are placed around the perimeter of the room does not shed quite enough light for people to really be able to see well, so you decide you'll turn on the overhead light. The only problem is, your overhead light is also your ceiling fan. It has two small chains that hang down from it: one to control the speed of the fan, and the other that determines whether or not the lights are on.
Normally speaking, you don't have the overhead light on all the time, but you do frequently run the ceiling fan, so the chain to the ceiling fan is pulled the proper number of times for a slow and lazy stirring of the air, and the light chain is not pulled. When you wish to turn the fan off at night, all you have to do is to flip the wall switch. Yet, now, with all your company watching, you must take off your shoes, and climb on top of the table, or else go into the pantry and clatter around until you find the step-ladder, and then dust it off, bring it into the living room, move the table, and climb up to the light, all just to be able to turn it on so you can see!
If that sounds ridiculous, it is. However, at last there are some companies who have identified this situation for the problem it is, and they've come out with remote control ceiling fans. Talk about joy! With remote control ceiling fans, such as those produced by Casablanca Fans (check out the Contemporary 54" Stealth DC Brushed Nickel Fan) and Emerson Fans (the Emerson Curva Sky with its beautiful brushed steel is to die for!) ... you can now control the ceiling fan with remote control. No longer will you have to embarrass yourself just to see the light. If it is time for you to change out your ceiling fans, or if you're just sick and tired of having to go to extreme lengths simply to be able to see in the middle of a room, perhaps it is time for you to consider a remote control for your fan!
